Good Lamp, Good Price, Good Light
The lighting from this lamp is excellent. It is perfect for knitting, drawing, reading, and provides a good deal of light to a room.

The Intertek GX9906 desk lamp is a fully functional no-frills desk lamp. The 27 watt fluorescent bulb turns on instantly and provides even, bright and color-neutral light. This is an excellent desk lamp for reading, detail craft work and general office use. The styling is clean and unobtrusive. This is a good buy at the list price of $23.95.

Bright and simple, a bit in its own way
This is a simple and bright desk lamp, giving off a bright white light. The character of the light is what you might expect from a fluorescent fixture in an office setting; not warm, but good for reading and such. The bulb is non-standard (e.g. not in all local hardware stores) but seems readily available for a decent price.

What I don't like is that the lamp is "in its own way". That is to say, the light is above a large base that occupies a fair amount of desk space. You have to tilt the light to put it on the work space instead of having it directly downward, which is an area occupied by the base. The base is large and curves, so you can't put anything on it. It seems to me either the neck should have been larger or the base could swivel more.

Also the size of the bulb makes for a largish lamp area, which just looks a little bulky. Nothing particular, just it isn't "elegent". I suppose that is the price to pay for more evenly distributed light.

If...
Light is nice, but the lamp's body was ill-conceived
I have been wanting to replace my very solid but heavy/large desk lamp with something lightweight. This lamp is indeed nice and light, but is not attractive to look at. Why such a big base, and not even put an on/off and dimmer switch on there? No dimmer at all for this, and the on-off switch is on the bottom, so you have to pick the lamp up to get to the bottom to turn it off. That is some upside-down thinking!

The light itself is really nice, though. I only use natural light now, which this is--it looks like daylight and never makes you squint from glare, as long as you are not looking directly at the source. I got this because of the perfection of daylight "color," but the aesthetics of the lamp's body leaves a lot to be desired. And I don't like having to pick up the lamp just to turn it off.
